DURBAN – In a bizarre string of spine-chilling events, convicted armed robber, Zakhele Bhobho Nkosi (32) who was released on parole committed murder only 10 days after his release.
Nkosi was recently charged for murdering Bongi Nhlebela (43), who is a wife to a Durban Taxi Owner. Nkosi had served 15 years in prison for armed robbery and was released on 3 March 2021, subsequently on 13 March 2021 he committed murder.
South African Police Service Spokesperson, Captain Nqobile Gwala said Nkosi was hunting for the Durban taxi owner and stormed his house. Upon realising that his bounty was not at home, he then decided to act in a cowardly manner and shot the taxi owner’s wife out of frustration.
“It is alleged that the victim was at her home in Nongoma when Nkosi who was looking for her husband who is a taxi owner accosted her. Nkosi was furious when he did not find the husband and turned the gun on Nhlebela, fatally wounding her”, said Captain Gwala.
After committing the cold-blooded murder, Nkosi then disappeared into hiding.
The Provincial Taxi Task Team (PTTT) snooped him out and arrested him on 8 April. He then appeared before Nongoma Magistrates Court on Friday, 9 April 2021 and was remanded in custody until 19 April for bail application.
