The South African Football Association has confirmed that Molefi Ntseki has been fired from his position as Bafanna head coach.

The announcement comes after Ntseki failed to lead the national team through to AFCON tournament that will be played in Cameroon next year. Bafana Bafana drew 1 all against Ghana and lost 2-0 to Sudan in the last two qualifying matches which would have put them second in Group C after Ghana.

Ntseki took over Stuart Baxter in 2019 and was immediately met challenges including the global pandemic last year which saw Bafana Bafana playing few matches. Building up to the last qualifying matches, Ntseki was met with more challenge when oversea based players had to withdraw from the squad due international travel restrictions.

SAFA is yet to announce who will be taking over from Ntseki.
