Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) Commissar Mbuyiseni Ndlozi has snubbed social media users advancing the #RetrenchPeterNdoro calling for the SABC news anchor’s retrenchment. Ndlozi says the hashtag is xenophobic and promotes Afrophobia.
Since yesterday, social media is abuzz with people calling for the retrenchment of Peter Ndoro on basis that he is not native South African.
Mbuyiseni Ndlozi says the hashtag #RetrenchPeterNdoro is a xenophobic attack against the journalist. Ndlozi explained that South Africans must not show double standards whilst celebrating the success of other South Africans in foreign countries.
“You can’t celebrate Trevor Noah who is in a USA based Daily Show & demand the retrenchment of Peter Ndoro simply because he is Zimbabwean! That is why we call this fools’ hashtag!”, said Ndlozi.
The #RetrenchPeterNdoro his a fools hashtag, driven by xenophobia & afrophobia: true #AprilFools— Mbuyiseni Ndlozi (@MbuyiseniNdlozi) April 1, 2021

I hope you know that the #RetrenchPeterNdoro hashtag is a lazy, afrophobic distraction.— Thrill Scott-Heron (@TheKingsTings) April 1, 2021
The real issue is that over 600 people are being retrenched because of corruption and because some people with big money are invested in seeing the downfall of the SABC. Ask who and why?
SABC recently finalized the retrenchment of more than 600 employees following the board’s decision to cut down on operational costs from 3,167 employees.
Tensions continue to rise on social media as South Africans are demanding to know how Peter Ndoro survived the retrenchment.
