MPUMALANGA – A 62-year-old taxi boss from Kwaggafontein was assassinated in a drive by incident a few meters away from his house on the Wednesday evening of 5 May.
It is reported that the man was walking with his friend in the neighbourhood in Tweetfontein Extension when a group of armed men in a white BMW opened fire on their targets.
SAPS spokesperson Brigadier Leonard Hlathi said Witnesses at the scene have told the Police that the car made a U turn to ensure that their target was hit and firing more shots whilst he lay on the ground dead.
“They reportedly fired more shots at the victim who was already lying on the ground and fled the scene thereafter. Authorities were notified about the incident and a murder case was opened hence the manhunt”, said Brigadier Hlathi.

The Police management in Mpumalanga has launched a manhunt for the assailants responsible for killing the taxi owner.
Mpumalanga has become a taxi warzone whereby reports of assassinations are reported weekly, in some cases involving innocent victims.
